Mewndir Môn

Challenging two in-land Anglesey communities through a series of films.

The Mewndir Môn pilot challenged two in-land Anglesey communities through a series of films to share how they felt about their communities, their knowledge about local history and lore, what makes them different and their future aspirations for their villages.

The Mewndir Môn pilot created a series of films about Gwalchmai and Llannerchymedd, two rural, inland Anglesey villages looking at what makes them different, what do they know about their history and how could they attract visitors into their communities.

A series of interviews were conducted with local characters, young people and business owners and the films were uploaded on to Facebook pages da:farn gwalchmai and da:farn llannerch-y-medd for further interaction by the communities.

It was clear that outside of the school there was little knowledge about the local history and the need for this to become known and used to bring visitors into both villages. Both Facebook pages received comments and contributions and provided important observations about the communities and their feelings about each other’s heritage, they also provided some ideas about further pilots that could be tested in their areas.
