The MônSar pilot aimed to train volunteers to deliver and deploy a new Lowland Rescue service for Anglesey and assist current providers to save lives.
LEADER funds enabled MônSar to set up and run a training programme to upskill volunteers in low-level search and rescue techniques that saves lives and relieves those in need, whilst also assisting the work of the police and rescue services on Ynys Môn. The volunteers were trained in search, casualty care, water safety and water search techniques which increased the capacity within the group to deliver a high quality professional and caring service.
Conclusions
MônSar is up and running and successful, providing a much-needed provision and a valuable addition to the other emergency services including the police and ambulance service. It is currently financing itself via fundraising activities.
